Common safety warnings for grinding or abrasive cutting operations
a) This power tool is intended to be used as a grinder or cutting tool. Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications that come with this power tool. Failure to follow all of the instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
b) It is not recommended to use this power tool for grinding, wire brushing or polishing. Operations for which power tools are not designed can be dangerous and cause personal injury.
c) Do not use accessories that are not specifically designed and recommended by the tool manufacturer. Just because an attachment can be attached to your power tool, it does not guarantee safe operation.
d) The rated speed of the attachment must be at least equal to the maximum speed marked on the power tool. Parts that run faster than the rated speed may break and fly apart.
e) The outer diameter and thickness of the accessories must be within the rated capacity range of the power tool. Incorrectly sized accessories cannot be adequately protected or controlled.
f) The threaded installation of the attachment must match the main shaft thread of the grinder. For flange mounted accessories, the mandrel hole of the attachment must be appropriate to the positioning diameter of the flange. Accessories that do not match the power tool mounting hardware will be out of balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of control.
g) Do not use damaged parts. Check accessories before each use, such as the grinding wheel for chips and cracks, the backing for cracks, tears or excessive wear, and the wire brush for loose or cracked wires. If power tools or accessories fall off, check for damage or install undamaged accessories. After checking and installing the attachment, position yourself and bystanders away from the plane of the rotating attachment and run the power tool at maximum no-load speed for one minute. During this test, damaged parts usually break.
h) Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on the application, use a face mask, safety goggles or safety glasses. Wear a dust mask, hearing protector, gloves, and a workshop apron capable of blocking small abrasives or piece debris, as appropriate. Goggles must be able to prevent flying debris from various operations. A dust mask or respirator must be able to filter the particles produced by your operation. Prolonged exposure to high levels of noise may lead to hearing loss.
i) Keep onlookers at a safe distance from the work area. Anyone entering the work area must wear personal protective equipment. Workpiece fragments or damaged attachments may fly away and cause injury outside the immediate area of operation.
j) Hold the power tool only through an insulated grasping surface when performing operations in which the cutting attachment may touch the hidden wiring or its own power cord. Cutting attachments that come into contact with “live” wires may “live” exposed metal parts of power tools and may electrocut the operator.
k) Position the rope away from the rotating attachment. If you lose control, the cord could be cut or jammed, and your hand or arm could be pulled into the rotating fitting.
l) Do not put down the power tool until the attachment is completely stopped. The rotating attachment may grip the surface and take the power tool out of your control.
m) Do not run power tools while carrying them. Accidental contact with a rotating accessory may snag your clothing, pulling the accessory into your body.
n) Clean the vents of power tools regularly. The fan of the motor will suck in dust inside the housing, and excessive accumulation of metal powder can cause electrical hazards.
o) Do not operate power tools near flammable materials. A spark could ignite the material.
p) Do not use accessories that require liquid coolant. The use of water or other liquid coolants may result in electric shock or shock.
